Tambal Hand-drawn Batik

Handwritten batik from Garut, West Java, featuring the ‘Tambal Kotak’ motif, where each square contains various classic batik motifs.

The word “tambal” itself translates to “patch” or “patchwork” means restoration or recovery.
A unique characteristic of Garut batik is that its motif lines are not as intricate and thin as those from other regions. It also has a distinctive color known as gumading (cream).
